Chicago Lake Plain

The Chicago Lake Plain section and Chiwaukee Prairie Region is characterized by sand deposits of the dune and swale topography as well as alluvium in riparian corridors. ​

Lake Border Moraines

The Lake Border Moraines are characterized by silty clay loams and eroded soils with moderate topography. Steep lake bluffs and ravine systems are present in the ecoregion.

Kettle Moraine

The Kettle Moraine section and Valparaiso Wheaton Morainal Complex are represented by unconsolidated sand and gravel deposits forming the till and outwash plains, kames, kettles, and moraines that identify the region.​
